I will be contacting the state of Missouri's QIO and the Joint Commission following the conclusion of this medical saga. It is blatant that this hospital does not put patient care, patient health, and patient rights first.
It was very busy in the ER but I was seen, x-rayed and evaluated in efficient time. The problem was they did not provide me with a CD of the X-rays or a detailed report that my orthopedic surgeon needed to view without additional duplicates. It seems a hospital that must have many patients from out of town should make this a priority.
So a few days after discharge, my grandma won't wake up. Eventually my grandpa gets her to, but she's extremely confused. So back to this atrocious place she goes, except now she's admitted to ICU. With the same pneumonia. And now she's also had either a heart attack or a stroke, caused by the atrial fibrillation she also had when she was previously admitted. The hospital staff told us that they could not determine whether she had a heart attack or a stroke. They were supposed to do a cardioversion for the a. fib. over a WEEK AGO. As of today, according to the extremely unpleasant nurse on the stepdown unit I spoke with, they haven't done it. They've also made only one or two medication changes and only done maybe one lab despite an increase in edema and this nurse stating that my grandma now has CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE. So, if you have a family member with an acute medical condition which may be life threatening, do not send them to this hospital. They are not being aggressive with regards to attempting to figure out why my grandma is declining and to top it all off they are not doing absolutely ANYTHING to stop it. AND THEY WILL NOT TALK ABOUT IT WITH MY GRANDPARENTS. They are just letting her lay in a bed and languish until she dies.
The length of paragraph needed to describe how awful the services are here is far too long. My clinic is in Camdenton, My doctor, he was great, the rest of the staff? Nurses and Coordinators? AWFUL. I have now gone 9 weeks with a torn ligament in my knee, it is because of this staff not sending in the appropriate paperwork needed to my insurance company to cover an MRI. Their staff is always apologizing, but continues to not get anything accomplished. If you are reading the reviews I HIGHLY suggest not stepping foot near ANY Lake Regional Clinic's or Hospital. They are extremely incompetent.
So, I'll be calling every single day to check on my loved one because it is obvious that this hospital only employs the most inept and lazy staff they can find. Holy hell, the charge nurses at the long-term care facility where I am a Director have far more initiative and critical thinking skills than the staff here. I would rather my grandma be there than in this place, as she would be receiving far better care.
This week will mark one month since my grandmother has been hospitalized at this 'hospital.' She was admitted initially with atrial fibrillation and a pneumonia. They then discharged her despite extremely limited improvement, and WITH THE SAME PNEUMONIA THEY ADMITTED HER WITH. They DID NOT SEND HER HOME WITH ANTIBIOTICS. Let me repeat that again: THEY SENT AN ELDERLY COPD PATIENT WITH A PNEUMONIA HOME WITHOUT ANTIBIOTICS. Do I need to say it again, except with emphasis on maybe, I don't know, MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE AND MALPRACTICE?
If you want your loved one to die then this is the place to take them. A veterinary office would do more justice than Lake Regional. From what I've experienced here, and from what our family has seen here, we'll never use lake regional for anything ever again. I'll drive the extra 45 minutes to Jefferson city or Lebanon to make sure I stay alive and my loved ones do too. I swear you guys hire "doctors" that went to community college. Screw you lake regional hospital, all your good at is taking money and taking lives. RIP to all the soles who have lost their lives to the hands of the lake regional medical staff.
Oh yeah, about this extremely unpleasant nurse, who worked in Stepdown on today's date (11/12/17) at around 1430. I'll be calling the manager of the stepdown unit tomorrow morning to have a nice conversation about her. Let me begin by saying that YOU DO NOT BLAME PATIENTS OR THEIR FAMILIES FOR NURSING ISSUES. This horrific example of a nurse responded with "I've been in that room three times today and they've never asked me a single question" when I said that I believed there was a lack of communication. You know who was in that room? My grandparents, who are 70+, were alone, and have no background in medicine or healthcare. One of the cornerstones of the nursing profession is patient education. No one in this hospital is telling my grandparents ANYTHING about prognosis, disease process, or anything. THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION. They are both absolutely exhausted. How dare this nurse respond negatively to a patient advocate.
If I could give a LOWER rating I would. On 9/12/17 I had a request form FAXED to request my medical records be FAXED to another medical clinic OUTSIDE of the Lake Regional conglomerate. As of 9/29/17 my records STILL HAVE NOT BEEN RECEIVED. I not only find this inexcusable but a violation of MY RIGHTS. In order to indicate TIMES WAS OF THE ESSENCE I requested the records be FAXED and I even put a date (9/22/17) that indicated my authorization would expire...believing that someone with some brains would realize that TIME WAS OF THE ESSENCE. Silly me...here I sit on September 29, 2017 and my new health care provider STILL HAS NOT RECEIVED MY MEDICAL RECORDS. Sad, sad, sad. I will NEVER recommend this hospital or the vast majority of their conglomerate clinics to any one!
